Deadnettles strongly resemble the infamous stinging nettles, but they have prominent flowers, and they don't sting. The Large Red Deadnettle is a spreading, hair perennial, growing to about 1 meter tall.

Flower Blossom.
24-40 mm. Pink to purple, with darker reddish marks; sometimes all white; 24-40 cm long. The corolla has a straight tube, much longer than the calyx.
Leaves.
Heart-shaped ovals with toothed edges, like the stinging nettle.
Habitat.
Rocky ground and open scrub. Our photos are from the damp, shady banks of the Brague, between Biot and Valbonne.
