These fragrant flowers grow on a climbing bush that can reach 2 m high. The stems are woody, and the upper ends are multi-branched.

Flower Blossom.
45 mm. The flowers grow in stalkless clusters of 2-6, cupped closely by the leaves. The flowers are pink tubes, up to 45 mm long, opening to short white petals at the ends (pinker and more clustered into leaf cups than the Etruscan). Orange or red berries are also cupped by the leaves.
Leaves.
Very broad, opposite ovals, dark shiny on top and pale beneath, up to 80 mm long. The upper leaves are stalkless pairs, often joined together around the stem (more fused into "cups" than the Etruscan).
Habitat.
Maquis, garrigue, scrub, open woodlands and roadsides.
