The Friends of Beyond are the people who have provided special support to Beyond, all in the spirit of Beyond and the spirit of the Internet.

Some of the support has been through encouraging email. A tiny fraction of people browsing Beyond send email, and only a small fraction of those write just to encourage us. But still, they're too many to easily list here, yet they're not forgotten or overlooked.

Some of the special Friends of Beyond who have gone out of the way with time and effort are (in no particular order):

Shin Supporting us from Japan in a number of special ways, Shin really "made our day" with a visit and a shared lunch at a terrace restaurant in Gourdon, watching the paragliders drift across in front of us, with the Mediterranean as a background.
Marc Venot Marc must read every page of Beyond, critically. His editorial support and suggestions of content information and links keeps us busy, and helps with the quality of Beyond.
Joel Stratte-Mcclure Joel has been with us, so to speak, from the beginning. His contributions have included (but certainly aren't limited to) publicity and visibility in the right places, and some excellent ideas and suggestions. Our short Magellen voyage was interesting, even though the compass didn't work. Joel writes the weekly News for the CAD web (www.cad.fr/english/news.html).
Eric Rowe Eric is a botanist we met via the Internet in the early days of Beyond, who turns out to live about 5 minutes from us. He has provided an endless amout of expert information and many photographs for the Flora section.
Jérôme Lecat There probably wouldn't be a Beyond without Jérôme. As head of InternetWay in 1995 (evolved now to president of UUNet France), Jérôme has given us a free home, hosting Beyond because he believed in what we were about.
Bill Thayer Without going into credentials, suffice it to say that Bill's a true expert in Roman history. In the beginning he had the class to correct us rather than laugh at our ignorance. Bill has since provided support for all things Roman in Beyond. (We take responsibility for any errors he hasn't yet seen.)
Yukako Sakai Another Japanese supporter who tried to meet with us, but we got confused between the villages of Saorge and Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. Yukako left us a beautiful book of Japanese photos reminiscent of an oriental Beyond.
"ShareWeb Supporters Mr Dana Atherton of San Franscisco took the time to send in a few good words along with a $10 order as a gesture of support for Beyond.
