Beyond began near the beginning of the World Wide Web. HTML programming started in 1993, allowing the creation of web pages, and in 1995, Beyond was on-line.
• 6 August 1991 - Tim Berners-Lee releases web software.
• 30 Apr 1993 - World Wide Web can be used for free by anyone.
• June 1993 - HTML programming language to create webpages released.
• Nov 1993 - First webcam goes online - watching a coffee pot.
• 13 Oct 1994 - Netscape web browser released.
• 1 July 1995 - Online bookstore Amazon.com launched.
• Aug 1995 - There are now 18,957 websites online.
• 4 Sept 1995 - Online auction site eBay founded as Auctionweb.
• Aug 1996 - There are now 342,081 websites online.
• Oct 1995 - Beyond.fr goes online - 500 pages read
• Mar 1997 - Over 1 million Beyond pages read
• Sept 1998 - Google opens its first office in a garage in California.
• May 1999 - Napster begins.
• Aug 2000 - Now 20 million websites online.
• 15 Jan 2001 - Online encyclopedia Wikipedia begins.
• 9 Nov 2004 - Mozilla Firefox web browser launched.
• 1 Aug 2006 - Now 92,615,362 websites online.
• 1 Aug 2006 - Beyond.fr readership about 2 million pages a month.
